Revert a promotion

Who this is for: directors · Where: Classes & parallelsRevert last promotion, visible after a promotion has been run.

What this page is for

Promote all changes the whole school in one go. This puts it back.

What it restores

  • every class's grade returns to what it was
  • the academic year returns to the previous one
  • classes that graduated in that run are un-graduated and become active again

You see a before-and-after list first, so you can check it is the run you meant.

When it refuses

A graduated pupil who has already moved on cannot be pulled back

If a pupil graduated in that promotion and has since enrolled somewhere else, the revert is refused rather than performed partially.

Un-graduating them would mean claiming a pupil who now belongs to another school's roster. The refusal does not say which pupil it was, so if you need to know, look for graduates of that year who have since joined somewhere else.

Other reasons it may not be offered:

  • no promotion has been run — there is nothing to undo
  • it has already been reverted — only the most recent run is remembered

Common tasks

Undo the last promotion

  1. Open Classes & parallels.
  2. Click Revert last promotion.
  3. Check the before/after list.
  4. Confirm.

After reverting

Any entry-grade classes you created after promoting are still there — they were not part of the promotion. Delete them if you no longer want them.

Rules and limits

  • One level of undo. The most recent promotion only.
  • Marks are never touched, in either direction.
  • Classes you created manually after the promotion are left alone.

Troubleshooting

"The revert button is not there." No promotion has been run, or the last one was already reverted.

"It refuses because of a graduated pupil." See above — they are on another school's roster now.

"I reverted, and there are extra classes." Those are the entry-grade classes you created after promoting. Remove them by hand.
