Archived classes & restore

Who this is for: directors · Where: Classes & parallels → the Graduated filter.

What this page is for

A graduated class is hidden, not deleted. This is how you find it again and, if you need to, bring it back.

Finding a graduated class

Switch the filter to Graduated. Each one shows its Absolvent label and the year it finished.

Restoring

Restore makes the class active again.

Copy-number renaming

If a class with the same name already exists — very likely, since a new 4 A is usually created after the old one graduates — the restored class comes back as 4 A (2), then 4 A (3), and so on.

Why it is renamed rather than merged

Two classes cannot share a name within a grade and year, and merging them would mix two different sets of pupils and two different journals. Renaming keeps them separate and lets you rename it properly afterwards.

Which pupils come back

  • Pupils who graduated with that class are restored to it
  • Pupils who have since joined another class or school are not taken back — they belong to their current roster and are left there

The result tells you how many pupils returned. It does not list the ones left behind, so if you need to know exactly who, check the class roster afterwards.

Rules and limits

  • Restoring does not un-graduate the year. It reactivates the class; a pupil who moved on stays where they are.
  • The Absolvent label is cleared on restore, since the class is active again.
  • Marks were never removed, so nothing is recovered — it was always there.
  • Restoring is safe to repeat; each restore gets its own copy number.

Troubleshooting

"My restored class is called 4 A (2)." Expected — see above. Rename it once you have removed or renamed the other one.

"Some pupils did not come back." They are on another roster now — see above. Move them deliberately with a transfer if that is what you want.

"I cannot find the graduated class." Switch on the Graduated filter — archived classes are hidden from the normal list. The list also pages at ten rows, so check the next page.
