Fill lessons from the curriculum

What this page is for
Your timetable says when you teach. The curriculum says what. This puts the two together: one topic on every lesson, in curriculum order, in one pass.
It also does the arithmetic every teacher does on paper in September — "68 lessons in the timetable, 74 hours in the curriculum" — and lets you settle the difference before it becomes a problem in May.
The balance
After Preview you get one line:
68 lessons in the timetable · 74 hours in the curriculum · +6
- Zero — they match. Nothing to decide.
- Positive — the curriculum asks for more hours than the term has.
- Negative — you have spare lessons.
Lessons that have already happened are never counted or rewritten, and the preview says how many it skipped.
When the curriculum is too long
Two ways to settle it, and you can mix them:
- Fit the curriculum to the term scales every subtopic proportionally. The rounding goes to the largest units, so a one-hour subtopic is not quietly doubled. Nothing ever drops below one hour — a subtopic scheduled for zero lessons is a subtopic that does not get taught.
- Edit the hours by hand in the table underneath. Change any number and press Preview again; the total moves with you.
If every subtopic is already at one hour and the term is still shorter, it says so instead of pretending it balanced.
When the term is longer
Pick something in Fill spare lessons with:
Revision · Synthesis · Assessment · Assessment review · Reserve lesson
These are the same scaffold rows you would write into a planificare by hand. They carry no curriculum, so nothing is invented.
Saving the hours back
Save the new hours to the curriculum is on by default. It writes the hours you settled on back onto the curriculum's subtopics, so next year the curriculum and the timetable still tell the same story. Turn it off to fill this term only and leave the curriculum untouched.
Only a curriculum you wrote is updated. A shared or school-wide one is used but never edited.
What it will and will not overwrite
- A lesson you already gave a topic to is skipped — the preview counts them. Tick Replace topics I already set only if you mean it.
- A subtopic worth several hours becomes several lessons, numbered
Balada (1/3),(2/3),(3/3). - Subtopics that do not fit are reported, not dropped — the preview names them.
Taking it back
Remove curriculum clears the topic from a range of lessons. It tells you exactly how many before you confirm, and:
- the lessons stay in the timetable — same day, time and room
- lesson plans, homework and exams are untouched
- competence points already awarded stay awarded
- past lessons are excluded unless you tick to include them
Rewriting the topic of a lesson you already delivered changes what the journal says happened that day. If you genuinely need it, the checkbox is there — but it is off by default for a reason.
You can undo a detach simply by running the fill again.
Editing one lesson
You do not have to run a bulk pass to change a single topic. Open the lesson in the calendar and use Change the topic:
- pick a different curriculum, or none
- pick a unit or subtopic from it
- or just type a topic — a field trip or a locally agreed theme does not have to exist in any curriculum
On a school-published timetable you cannot move a lesson — but its topic, plan, homework and exam are yours to set. That split is deliberate: see Rescheduling.
Rules and limits
- Past lessons are never rewritten by a bulk fill or a bulk detach.
- Nothing goes below one hour when scaling.
- Only your own classes. You cannot fill another teacher's lessons.
- Only curricula you can already open can be used.
- Hours are written back only to a curriculum you authored.
- A lesson that is not part of a timetable cannot be left with no curriculum at all — delete it instead.
Troubleshooting
"It says I cannot open that curriculum." It is someone else's and not shared with the school. Ask them to share it, or copy it into your own library.
"Nothing was written." Every lesson in the range already had a topic. Tick Replace topics I already set, or narrow the dates.
"Some subtopics do not fit." The term is shorter than the curriculum. Use Fit the curriculum to the term, or reduce hours by hand, or accept the overflow and carry it.
"The hours I typed did not save to the curriculum." Only a curriculum you authored is written to. If it is shared or school-wide, the fill still works — the curriculum is just left as its author wrote it.
"Remove curriculum says some lessons cannot be cleared." Those lessons are not part of a timetable, so they have nothing left to identify them by. Delete them instead of clearing them.
