Joining a school
Signing in and belonging to a school are two different things. This page covers the second one.
Your account identifies you. Your membership says which school you belong to and what you do there. You can have an account with no school yet — that is the "you are not a member of any school" message.
Teachers — the invitation email
Your director invites you by email.
- Open the email (subject mentions your school's name).
- Click the button inside it.
- Sign in with Google if you are not already.
- You are added to the school and land on your teacher setup.
After that it stops working and you will need a new one. Ask your director to resend it — they can do that from the Teachers screen at any time.
Invitation emails sometimes land in Spam or Promotions. If it is genuinely not there, ask your director to resend it — an invitation can fail to send for reasons on the school's side, and they can see and retry it.
Pupils — the class code
Your teacher gives you a code such as A7K2M4P9.
- Sign in with Google.
- When asked, type the code.
- Press Join.
What happens next depends on the code
| Code type | What happens |
|---|---|
| Homeroom / class code (your main class, e.g. 12A) | A request is sent to your homeroom teacher. You wait for approval |
| Subject class code | You are added straight away, no waiting |
Your homeroom class decides your official records — grades, report card, transcripts. A teacher confirms it so a typo cannot put you in the wrong class and scramble your school record.
While you wait
You are in the school but pending. You can log in, but most screens will be empty until your teacher approves you. This is normal. If it takes more than a day, remind your teacher — the request sits in their list until they act on it.
Things that can go wrong
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid code | Mistyped, expired (24 h), or the class was deleted | Re-type carefully; ask for a fresh code |
| You are already in a class | You already have a homeroom class at this school | You cannot join a second one. Ask your director to transfer you instead |
| You already belong to another school | Your account is active at a different school | A pupil can only be active at one school. The old school must release you first |
| Too many pending requests | You sent 5 or more requests in 24 hours | Wait, and stop re-sending. Ask your teacher to approve the one you already sent |
| The school is full | The school has reached its paid pupil limit | Only the director can fix this, by raising the limit |
a7k2m4p9 and A7K2M4P9 are the same code. Spaces and dashes are ignored too.
Parents — the 8-character school code
The school gives you an 8-character code. It joins you to the school — being connected to your child is a separate step the homeroom teacher does.
- Sign in with your email and password.
- Type the code into the eight boxes.
- It submits automatically once the last box is filled — there is no button to press.
Click the first box and paste. The characters spread across all eight boxes.
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Code expired | More than 24 hours old | Ask the school for a new one |
| Code revoked | The school cancelled it | Ask why, and request a new one |
| Nothing happens | Fewer than 8 characters entered | Check for a missing character |
Being linked to your child
The code above does not attach a child to you — the homeroom teacher does that, from their Homeroom page. Until they do, you see the school with no child on it. There is nothing to submit and nothing awaiting approval; ask the homeroom teacher to add you.
More than one child
You do not need another code for a second child, and you do not need a second account. The homeroom teacher of each child links you, and all of them appear in the same account — even across different schools.
Directors — registering the school
You do not need a code; you create the school.
- Choose Director and sign in with Google.
- Complete the setup wizard (school name, country, city, logo, teacher invitations, AI tone, pricing).
- Finish.
After registering, the school waits for approval by the platform administrator. Until then you and your staff see a "pending approval" screen. See Troubleshooting.
Invitations are valid for 24 hours. If you send fifty invitations and approval takes two days, all fifty expire and must be sent again. Wait until the school is approved, then invite.
