What this page is for
Every scutire in the school — the notes parents submit to excuse an absence or a late arrival, usually a medical certificate.
Teachers get a flat read-only list. Directors get it organised per pupil, with a printable file per pupil.
The overview
A summary strip across the school:
- how many pupils have waivers on record
- total excused absences
- total late arrivals
Below it, one card per pupil with their own counts and when they last submitted something. Search by name; results are paginated.
A pupil's file
Open a pupil for their complete history, split into an Absences tab and a Lateness tab — these are two separate kinds of submission. Absences are excused by a parent; a pupil explains their own lateness, per lesson.
Each entry shows the period it covers, the stated reason, its status — active, expired or revoked — and any attached evidence. Attachments open in an image viewer.
Export PDF produces the pupil's waiver file for a paper record or a meeting, either for the pupil's whole history or a custom date range.
What this page does not do
- It does not mark anything in the electronic journal. Whether an absence counts as motivated is decided there, by the teacher.
- It does not approve waivers. A submitted waiver is a record, not a request.
- Nobody is notified from here.
Handling medical evidence
Attachments are frequently medical certificates naming a child.
Files are served through the app rather than as shareable links, so a URL copied out of the page does not grant access to anyone else. Exported PDFs carry no such protection — once downloaded, the file is an ordinary document. Store and share it accordingly.
Rules and limits
- Directors only for this view.
- Read-only. Submission is a parent action.
- School-wide, grouped per pupil, searchable and paginated.
- Evidence is app-served, never public.
- Journal marking is separate and stays with teachers.
Troubleshooting
"A pupil has no card." No waiver has ever been submitted for them. Only pupils with records appear.
"Marked expired but the pupil is still away." A waiver covers a stated period. A longer absence needs a new submission.
"The counts differ from the journal." They count waivers, not marked absences. A parent may submit a note for an absence a teacher never recorded — or a teacher may record one nobody excused. The gap between the two is often the useful signal.
"Export gives an empty PDF." The pupil has no entries of the type you exported. Check both tabs.
